Katrina Kaif, one of the most sought-after stars in Bollywood, is celebrating her 30th birthday today (16 July).

Katrina was born in Hong Kong to Indian Kashmiri father, Mohammed Kaif and English mother, Susanna Turquotte. Her parents were divorced when she was small and after that, Katrina's family shifted to different countries before migrating to her mother's hometown England.

Katrina began her modelling career at the age of 14. While working on one of her modelling assignments, director Kaizad Gustad spotted her and cast her in her debut film "Boom". The film co-starring Amitabh Bachchan bombed at the box office. Katrina was criticised for her flawed Hindi accent and acting skills.

However, the actress didn't shun away from pursing her acting career. Coming from a non-filmy background, Katrina was determined to carve a name in the Bollywood industry. She bagged a role in Ram Gopal Verma's flick "Sarkar" that drew attention from filmmakers. She attained popularity after starring in Salman Khan's "Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya".

Later, Katrina starred in a string of hit films including "Namastey London", "Partner", "Welcome", "Race", "Singh Is Kinng", New York" and "Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani". Her role in "New York", which also starred John Abraham and Neil Nitin Mukesh, won her critical acclaim. On the personal front, Katrina was reportedly dating Salman Khan for eight years and parted ways in 2010. Now, she is reportedly dating Ranbir Kapoor, her co-star in "Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani" and "Rajneeti".

Depsite parting ways with Salman, both the actors still share a cordial relationship and Katrina even did a special number in his film "Bodyguard". She also starred in the his spy film "Ek Tha Tiger," in which their onscreen chemistry was widely praised.

Katrina also shared a sizzling chemistry onscreen with one of the hottest stars of Bollywood - Hrithik Roshan. Their multi-starrer film "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara" became a big hit not just for the story and impressive locations, but also for the interesting chemistry between the two leading stars.

As a female lead, Katrina was lastly seen in Shah Rukh Khan's "Jab Tak Hai Jaan", which was Yash Chopra's final directorial venture. The actress looked stunning in the film, and her crackling chemistry with Shah Rukh was one of the key factors that helped the film succeed.

Katrina has bagged some big projects this year as well. For the first time, she will be seen sharing screen space with Aamir Khan in "Dhoom 3". The gorgeous star will also be seen with Hrithik once again in his upcoming film "Bang Bang".
