Bollywood diva Kareena Kapoor has emerged as an item queen and is now set to groove to a track in Akshay Kumar's "Gabbar".

Recent reports had stated that Kareena was being considered for a part in the Southern remake but the producers of the film have clarified otherwise.

Producer Shabina Khan informed the Press Trust of India that the actress will make a special performance in a song.

"Just like Kareena made a special appearance in 'Chinta ta chita chita' in 'Rowdy Rathore', she will be doing a song in 'Gabbar'," said producer Shabina Khan.

She added, "It is a two day song. We are yet to decide what kind of song it will be and when we will shoot for it. We are excited to work with Kareena again."

"Gabbar", remake of the superhit Tamil film "Ramanna" (2002), will have Akshay playing a social crusader fighting corruption. Produced jointly by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Shabina, the film will be directed by Krish, known for several Southern blockbusters.

Meanwhile, Kareena's eager wait to work again with director Rohit Shetty has been washed away.

After pairing up in "Golmaal Returns" and "Golmaal 3", it was assumed that Rohit and Kareena will work again in Ajay Devgn-starrer "Singham 2."

But a report by Times of India stated that the actress has been dropped from the project. The filmmakers felt the heroine's role in the film was a considerably minor one and would not justify Kareena stature.

"Rohit felt that the role is too small for an established and talented actress like Kareena. He discussed this with the producers, Reliance Entertainment, who also subscribed to his view," revealed a source to the news agency.

As of now, a South actress is being considered for the part.

The previous installment "Singham" had Ajay in the role of inspector Singham, opposite South actress Kajal Agarwal.
