Scriptwriter of "The Kapil Sharma Show" Ram Abhishek Singh (26) alias Kera Singh was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police on Wednesday, Aug.3, for his alleged involvement in a murder case.

According to reports, in 2009, Singh, along with his father and uncle, had apparently killed two people and injured three others over a property dispute in his native village in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh.

"He (Kera) is key accused in the sensational shootout at former pradhan Ghure Singh's house in Azamgarh's Mau Parashan village that resulted in death of two people and injuries to three others. Prohibited firearm (carbine) was used in the shootout. Carbines are generally used by police and other security forces," said Arvind Chaturvedi, additional superintendent of police (ASP), Special Task Force (STF), Hindustan Times reported.

While the father and uncle were arrested, Singh was on a run since the double murder and in 2010 he reached Mumbai and started living under a changed identity as Rohit Singh. Singh, who holds a graduate degree in Mass Communication and an MBA degree, then tried his luck in the film and TV industry. He acted in a comedy show "The Great Indian Family Drama" and took up several small roles in shows before he started working with K9 production house as a scriptwriter on contractual basis. Singh also carried a cash reward of Rs. 30,000 on his head.

"He acted in the Great Indian Family Drama comedy show on Sab TV. Thereafter, he did small roles in many television serials and gave auditions for Bollywood movies. Recently, he was associated with K9 Productions and was writing scripts for Kapil Sharma's show," Chaturvedi said.
