There were reports earlier that Kabali would have a sequel. Now, we have a strong hint about the second instalment of the Rajinikanth-starrer.
Well, Kalaippuli S Thanu has reportedly registered the title Kabali 2 to his name. It means the producer is willing to have a sequel and rumours say that the plans might be in place by now. it may be recalled that during the promotions of the film, the team had given indications that they wish to have a sequel.
However, there is no clarity on when Kabali 2 would commence. Rajinikanth is presently working on 2.0 aka Enthiran 2 and he has given a nod to Pa Ranjith's next film, which will begin next year. It is only after the completion of these films, the rumoured project would take off, say reports.
Kabali is believed to be made with the budget of Rs. 100 crore. The film has reportedly given profits to the producer, distributors and exhibitors. As per the trade reports, it has grossed over Rs 300 crore worldwide and made above Rs 100 crore at the overseas box office. Also, the film has earned about Rs. 225 crore from the sales of various rights and deals.
The movie, which minted Rs 87.5 crore at the worldwide box office from three versions (Tamil, Telugu and Hindi) on its opening days, has been written and directed by Pa Ranjith and produced by Kalaippuli S Thanu. The Rajinikanth and Radhika Apte-starrer film has broken many box office records and turned out to be one of the biggest hits of South India.
