The mortal remains of actor Kalabhavan Mani, who was known as common man's superstar, has been laid to rest Monday.

From an auto driver to a mimicry artiste from Kalabhavan, Mani made his entry to the Malayalam entertainment industry with the movie "Aksharam" in 1995. Coincidentally, he played an auto-driver in the flick and became a notable actor with his character Rajappan in AK Lohithadas' hit movie "Sallapam" in 1996.

Apart from comedy roles, he was also popular for portraying many character roles and had done many antagonist characters in Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu languages. His down to earth behaviour made him the favourite of the common people and could always capture the attention of the audience with his folk songs and unique laugh.

Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njaanum

Mani won many accolades for portraying the role of a visually impaired man, Ramu, with great perfection in Vinayan's directorial venture "Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njaanum" in 1999. He won the National Film Special Jury Award and Kerala State Film Special Jury Award for the performance in the movie, which also had Kaveri and Praveena in main roles.

Karumadikkuttan

In director Vinayan's 2001 movie "Karumadikkuttan," Mani was seen as a thirty-year old, who has the intelligence of a ten-year-old. The movie opened to tremendous response for the flawless performance of the actor. 

Summer in Bethlehem

Sibi Malayil's 1998 movie "Summer in Bethlehem" is one of the most popular movies in Malayalam with an ensemble cast, including Suresh Gopi, Jayaram, Mani, Manju Warrier, Mohanlal and many others. Mani was seen in the pivotal role Monai, who entertains the audience throughout the movie.
