Jurassic World 2 will feature Jeff Goldblum as Dr Ian Malcolm, and he is likely to team up with Sam Neill's character Dr Alan Grant to move against Velociraptor trainer Owen Grady.

After his adventurous journey in Jurassic Park, the much-loved chaotician was never fond of dinosaurs and he was planning to share his experience on Isla Nublar with everyone. But InGen CEO Peter Ludlow, who is the nephew of John Hammond, stopped him from doing so.

So the mathematican could return to the theme park for spreading awareness about the impact of bringing back dinosaurs in the natural ecosystem. He might also move against Chris Pratt's character and try to harm the dinosaurs.

Frank Marshall, the executive producer of Jurassic World 2, has already confirmed that Goldblum will have a vital role to play in the upcoming movie and teased that it could change the way franchise fans looked at his character.

"I'm excited to have him back. The world has changed a lot since Ian Malcolm went to Jurassic Park and we need his point of view now more than ever. He told us about chaos theory, he was right," Marshall told Slashfilm.

Meanwhile, fan theories suggest that the beloved chaotician will probably return on screen as an anti-hero and he could be less sympathetic to dinosaurs. According to a fansite called Jurassic Outpost, he might be the voice of logic and less enamored by the dinosaurs, viewing them in a more negative light.

"He'll be a bit of an anti-hero, as we the audience find ourselves rooting for the dinosaurs to survive – he'll probably be less sympathetic. Let's face it, while we all love the dinosaurs, they pose a huge threat to natural ecosystem of the world, and if they ever were introduced outside of the islands the consequences would be dire," the fansite stated.

The franchise fans are also expecting to see actor Sam Neill as Dr Alan Grant in Jurassic World 2 and his team-up with Goldblum's character. But the actor has already shot down speculations about his role in the upcoming movie.

"They're doing very well without me. I think the problem is that no one knows where Alan Grant is anymore," he said.
