UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon 'Bones' Jones has denied reports that he tried to duck fellow UFC fighter Georges St-Pierre outside a New York City nightclub last weekend, claiming that misunderstanding led to the spreading of such rumors.

According to TMZ, Bones had an "awkward moment" with St-Pierre at a post-Super Bowl party on Sunday. He appeared to have signaled the cameraman of the celebrity news website that he did not want St-Pierre to know his presence, before eventually ending up embracing him and entering the nightclub together.

Bones told TMZ Sports that he was not trying to duck his fellow MMA fighter, claiming they are friends with a long history of partying together. In fact, he tried to blame the website for stirring up the whole episode.

Bones, who defeated Alexander Gustafsson in September last year, will fight Glover Teixeira in UFC 172 on 26 April at the Baltimore Arena.
