Here's some good news for Rajat Tokas fans.

The actor, who rose to fame as Akbar of periodic series "Jodha Akbar", will soon return on the small screen. Rajat has be roped in Ekta Kapoor's new show, which will be based on the life of Chandragupta Maurya.

According to a report in The Times of India, Rajat will be playing the lead role in the show, which is still in its initial stage and the remaining cast of the show is yet to be finalised.

A few years back, Imagine TV had also aired a show titled "Chandragupta Maurya" but it was later taken off air.

Rajat and Paridhi Sharma aka Jodha of "Jodha Akbar", turned out to be one of the most popular on-screen couples with a huge fan base.

"Jodha Akbar" ruled the hearts of millions for two years but was pulled down in July due to drastic fall in the TRP ratings.

The periodic series depicted a sixteenth century love story and a political marriage between Mughal emperor Akbar and Rajput princess Jodha.

Despite the popularity, the show came under the scanner for drifting away from the original story and also received a lot of flak from the Rajput community.
