Jio GigaFiber 1Gbps release date set in June: ReportReliance Jio

Reliance Jio has made quite an impression in the Indian telecom industry with its unlimited free offers for 4G data and voice calls, and it is now stepping into the broadband sector with similar aim. Jio Fibre to the Home (FTTH) service has been in testing for a while now, and it looks like the beta trials are expanding quickly towards commercial launch.

While there's a lot of buzz about Jio's high-speed broadband services, Jio's official customer support- Jio Care on Twitter confirmed the service to be called "JioFiber." In addition to that it is also testing "JioFiber Preview Offer" in "select areas of Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Ahmedabad, Jamnagar, Surat and Vadodara," JioCare tweeted.

While responding to a customer query, JioCare also revealed that the company is in the process of expanding its beta trials of JioFiber to other cities soon. So far, the company hasn't elaborated on its FTTH plans, but the company said that it is indeed making progress.

"The Company continues to make progress on the roll-out of its Fibre to the Home (FTTH) business offering with beta trials initiated in a few locations. It would expand the scope of the beta trials over the next few months," Reliance Industries said while announcing earnings for the year ended March 31, 2017, NDTV noted.

With all the signs about JioFiber, the commercial launch doesn't seem too far away. But customers can look forward to JioFiber Preview Offer, which could give free access to Jio's 100Mbps broadband service ahead of official launch.

Recently, Jio's Quick Recharge webpage was updated to include Home Broadband, which strongly suggests the introduction of JioFiber. Reports of Jio testing its fiber optic broadband with regular users have only returned positive feedback. With at least 100Mbps speeds, users will get optimum, lag-free browsing and downloading experience.

There is no exact release date for Jio's FTTH broadband, but rumours suggest a June timeline, which sounds reasonable. JioFiber is also expected to be the most affordable home broadband service in the country, which will bring a tough challenge to rivals such as ACT Fibernet, Tata DoCoMo, Airtel and others.
