Two people suspected of perpetrating two separate shootings in Jerusalem Wednesday have been killed by security forces.

In one attack, two men in a car reportedly opened fire at a bus in Jerusalem's Ramot area. The passengers escaped major injury as they lay down on the floor of the bus, reports the Times of Israel.

A passer-by opened fire at the assailants with his weapon. The attackers fled after being shot at, reports the Jerusalem Post.

In another attack Wednesday, two assailants opened fire at the New Gate in Jerusalem's Old City, where a man in his 50s was critically injured. He was taken to hospital immediately.

Security forces in the area shot two people suspected of perpetrating the attack at the New Gate.

The car used for the bus shooting was found in Paratroopers Street. It had weapons inside, reports JPost.The police believe the same car could have been used for both attacks.

The twin shootings come a day after multiple civilians were stabbed by three Palestinian attackers in Jerusalem, Petah Tikva and Tel Aviv, leading to a death and injuries to 12.
