Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult are plagued by split rumors for weeks now. Adding more fuel to the report of their split, Hoult was spotted with Riley Keough at NYC hotspot No. 8 on July 23. He was also seen grabbing a meal with his "Equals" co-star Kristen Stewart.

So what is the truth behind the split speculations? Are Hoult and Lawrence really over?

Well it seems so.

"Though they are currently broken up, most of their mutual friends believe that love will find a way and that they will get back together in the future," a source told Hollywoodlife, adding, "They have a very special bond that they will not find elsewhere."

Interestingly, this is not the first time that Lawrence and Hoult have parted ways. They earlier called it quits in Jan 2013 before getting back together during the shooting of "X-Men: First Class" in July 2013. They may meet again during the shooting of "X-Men: Apocalypse", which is expected to begin in 2015.

The reason for the couple's split is understood to be Lawrence's alleged ego.

"They're still talking but Nicholas is moving on," a source told The Fix. "He hates how in love with fame Jen is, and he told her he hates dating an A-list actress. That was the most hurtful to Jen because she's worked so hard for her achievements and she's so proud of her career. But Nic wants a more low-key girlfriend and Riley fits the bill."

Interestingly, Lawrence had suggested in one of her interviews that they as a couple share a great understanding.

"We're so young that it would almost be like if we lived in the same city, what would happen? We'd be living together," she told the June issue of Marie Claire Magazine, adding, "At least this way he's in the same boat as I am: We can go out and have our own lives and know that we have each other."

She also said they are busy they hardly communicate with each other when they are busy but completely trust each other.

"When we're busy, we agree to mutually ignore each other. Not completely, but neither of us gets mad when the other doesn't text back or call," she told the magazine. "Life's super busy. Obviously you know what they're doing, and you trust them."

Spokesperson of Lawrence and Hoult are yet to speak on split rumors.
