On Sunday evening, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister suffered a cardiac arrest and is stated to be critical. She was admitted at Apollo Hospitals on September 22 and it is nearly three months since she has been there. Here's a look at the timeline of events sicne then:

December 5, 2016: Jayalalithaa is said to be critical and in ICU.

December 4, 2016: TN CM suffers a cardiac arrest. Apollo Hospitals issues a statement that she has been placed on extracorporeal membrane heart assist device. She was being treated by "a team of expert doctors and critical care specialists."

November 20, 2016: AIADMK states that Jayalalithaa will retun home soon as she had recovered.

November 18, 2016:  Apollo hospitals Chairman Dr Prathap C Reddy states that she can return home anytime she wishes as she could breathe normally.

November 16, 2016: Amma releases her first public statement since she went into hospital on September 22. Statement says, "I have taken rebirth because of people's prayers."

November 17, 2016: A senior AIADMK leader states that Amma's lung infection is cured and she was now breathing without respiratory support.

November 5, 2016: Apollo chief says that Amma has recovered.

October 29, 2016: Jayalalitha signs the poll papers with her thumb print.

October 26, 2016: AIADMK announced that their party leader was on the road to recovery and would leave hospital soon. Asked cadres to pray for her health.

October 22, 2016:  Hospital says that she is able to sit up and that she was "interacting and progressing gradually."

October 20, 2016: AIADMK party puts out social media update that their leader was doing well and would return home soon. 

October 17, 2016: No updates on her health for over a week. Police issue warning that those spreading rumours about her health would be arrested.

October 15, 2016: DMK honcho Karunanidhi's wife visits Jaya at Apollo Hospitals to enquire about her health.

October 13, 2016: Team of doctors from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), along with UK-based specialist, Dr Richard Beale, see her again.

October 12, 2016 : Doctors at Apollo seemed to alert the party that she could not resume official duties. O Paneerselvam was given charge of eight departments.

October 10, 2016: Apollo states Jayalalithaa is under 'respiratory support'. DMK leader M K Stalin goes to the hospital to enquire about her health.

October 8, 2016: Apollo announces that Jayalalithaa was undergoing lung decongestion, as well as other 'comprehensive measures' and she will be under constant monitoring.

October 6, 2016: Apollogives out descriptive statement - she was on respiratory support, nebulisation, drugs to decongest the lungs, antibiotics, nutrition, general nursing care and supportive therapy.

October 2, 2016: hospital states that an expert teamof doctors treating report that she was responding well to the treatment She was required to stay under observation for some more time.

October 1, 2016: Tamil Nadu Governor C VidyasagarRao visits Jayalalithaa at hospital. 

September 30, 2016: DMK president Karunanidhi asks the state government to release an official statement with photographs of her.

September 29, 2016: AIADMK tweets out an Apollo statement.

September 27, 2016: AIADMK had tweeted that mma had held a meeting at Apollo to discuss Cauvery River issue.

September 22, 2016: Jayalalithaa is admitted at Apollo Hospitals after she complained of fever and dehydration.
