A 6.7 magnitude earthquake hit Japan's northern region on Thursday, but no tsunami warning has been issued yet. 

According to Japan Meteorological Agency, the earthquake struck the island of Hokkaido and northern Aomori Prefecture. The agency said that the quake occurred at a depth of 50 kilometres at 12:30 pm local time. 

No injuries or damages have been reported yet.

 In November 2015, a 7.0 magnitude earthquake had triggered tsunami fears in Japan.
