'Janatha Garage' US box office prediction: Will Jr NTR's film beat 6 records of 'Srimanthudu,' 'Nannaku Prematho'

Junior NTR's much-talked about movie "Janatha Garage," directed by Koratala Siva, is expected to shatter six records of "Srimanthudu" and "Nannaku Prematho" at the U.S. box office.

Junior NTR and director Koratala Siva's last releases "Nannaku Prematho" and "Srimanthudu," respectively, have become big money spinners at the U.S. box office. Their success had created demand for the actor and the director's first combo movie. FICUS Entertainment has acquired the overseas distribution rights of "Janatha Garage" for a whopping price of Rs. 7.25 crore.

The bosses of FICUS Entertainment are distributing "Janatha Garage" in North America and sold the rights for other international markets to Australia Telugu Movies and Eurotolly. The distribution house has booked over 200 screens for the movie across the U.S. and it will premiere the film in over 100 screens in the country. The flick has received good advance booking for paid previews.

"Nannaku Prematho" had collected $355,321 at the U.S. box office in the premiere shows. The movie raked in $1,631,799 [Rs 11.05 crore] in its five-day-extended opening weekend and $2,019,211 (Rs 13.83 crore) in its lifetime at the U.S. box office. It has been the biggest opener and highest grossing movie in the U.S. for Junior NTR.

On other hand, "Srimanthudu" collected $555,000 in the premiere shows, $2,062,768 (Rs 13.18 crore) in its opening weekend and $2,019,211 (Rs 13.83 crore) in its lifetime at the U.S. box office. The movie is the biggest opener and highest grossing movie for director Koratala Siva. It holds the all top non-Baahubali records in the country.

Junior NTR and Koratala Siva's "Janatha Garage" has created positive buzz in the media, and Mohanlal's association has increased curiosity and expectations from the movie. The pre-release hype would definitely help the film break the premiere show records of both "Nannaku Prematho" and "Srimanthudu," but the word of mouth will decided whether it will shatter their opening weekend and lifetime collection records or not.
