Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed is currently in the intensive care unit (ICU) of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi, and is said to be in a "critical but stable state".

The J&K chief minister has a medical history of fever and neck pain. He was diagnosed as having decreased blood count, pneumonia and sepsis. Sayeed was airlifted from Srinagar to AIIMS, Delhi after he complained of exhaustion on 24 December, 2015, IANS reported.

Sayeed was being administered a high dosage of medication and given oxygen to provide relief to his lungs, a hospital spokesperson was quoted as saying by ANI.

The 79-year-old was sworn in as chief minister of Jammu & Kashmir on 15 January, 2015. State Governor NN Vohra is believed to have visited Sayeed in hospital and enquired about his health.
