Indonesian President Joko Widodo has condemned the attacks that left at least six people dead in the capital Jakarta on 14 January. Coordinated blasts hit several locations, including a Starbucks cafe at a shopping centre near the presidential palace and UN offices.

Widodo said the explosions were an act of terror during a speech delivered on Metro TV station: Our nation and our people should not be afraid, we will not be defeated by these acts of terror, I hope the public stay calm. We all are grieving for the fallen victims of this incident, but we also condemn the act that has disturbed the security and peace and spread terror among our people.

Police said at least four attackers have been killed. Although similar attacks have occurred in Indonesia in the past, no group has claimed responsibility for the latest blasts.

However, suspicions are likely to fall on terror group The Islamic State (Isis), after nine suspected Islamists linked to the group were arrested in December as they were planning to do a concert in Jakarta.
