Tata Motors-owned Jaguar Land Rover India confirmed the launch of XE sedan on 3 February. Ahead of the launch, the company started bookings for its entry-level sedan on 12 January through 23 authorized outlets.

The BMW 3 series, Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class rival, XE will be the most affordable Jaguar product in India, with an estimated price tag of around Rs 40 lakh. The sedan will be launched with two petrol engines that develop 197bhp and 237bhp. The 2.0-litre diesel producing 161bhp and 380Nm of peak torque is expected to join the powertrain later.

Jaguar XE boasts a first-in-class all-aluminium chassis, which makes it lighter. The rear suspension has an "Integral Link" setup that provides more lateral and longitudinal stiffness compared to conventional multi-link designs. The front suspension is based on the Jaguar F-type and borrows components from the XFR, such as the double wishbones.

The variant will also feature torque vectoring, All Surface Progress Control (ASPC), Softgrain Windsor leather seats, panoramic sliding sunroof, interior mood lighting, navigation system, 380 watts Meridian sound system and surround camera system.

"Jaguar XE displays levels of innovation never seen before in this segment. Coming from an impeccable lineage of extraordinary Jaguar sports saloons, we are confident that XE's thrilling performance and dynamic design will set a new standard for excellence and will be a game changer in the segment. The launch of Jaguar XE in petrol in February this year will flag-off our journey to enter into a new territory and mark a significant milestone in the expansion of Jaguar's product offering in India," said Rohit Suri, President, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd.
