itel forays into India mobile phone market with 6 launches; Prices start at Rs. 839

Transsion Holdings' itel brand has forayed into the fast-growing Indian mobile phone market with six new launches -- three smartphones and the other three feature phones. itel announced that its feature phones will be priced below Rs. 2,000 and smartphones below Rs. 10,000, a move that is bound to attract the price-conscious shoppers in India.

itel has divided the new phones into different series: SmartSelfie, SmartPower and Shine for feature phones and SelfiePro, PowerPro and Wish series for smartphones. The smartphone manufacturer has strategically planned its operations in India in two phases. Initially, itel will cover North Indian states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand and follow it up with North West region of the country, including Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, the company said earlier this week.

"In today's digitally-led world, mobile connectivity has become a necessity instead of a privilege. With the launch of these phones, we are providing Indian consumers with the perfect amalgamation of value plus and functionality. We are confident that these phones will find great reception amongst the aspiring Indian mobile phone users and will play a major role in making India truly digital," Sudhir Kumar, CEO of itel India, said in a statement.

itel's new mobile range is addressing major pain points of consumers, like camera, battery and performance. itel has launched SmartSelfie it2180, SmartPower it5600, SmartSelfie it5231, PowerPro it1410, Wish it1508 and the flagship model SelfiePro it1511. The feature phones -- it5231, it5600 and it2180 -- are priced at Rs. 1,296, Rs. 973 and Rs. 839, respectively, and the smartphone range starts at Rs. 3,339 for PowerPro it1410, Rs. 3,899 for Wish it1508 and Rs. 6,999 for the SelfiePro it1511.
