Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has accused Israel of targeting Palestinians in West Bank using wild boars.

"Every night, they (Israelis) release wild boars against us," Abbas reportedly said during his speech in Ramallah on Friday, The Jerusalem Post reported. "Why are they doing this to us?," he said.

The Palestinian Authority had brought up the issue of wild boars earlier as well, claiming that they destroyed agricultural fields and produce, even as Israel has reportedly been culling much of its wild boar population.

Even PA armed forces had attributed the wild boar attacks to Israel several years ago, according to Arutz Sheva, an Israeli media network.

There were also reports of some Palestinians being injured in an attack by the animals in West Bank.

Tensions have been simmering in the region following a series of attacks in Jerusalem, with the latest on a synagogue that killed five people.

The attack is suspected to have been carried out by Palestinian assailants.

On Friday, Israeli forces had opened fire on Palestinian protesters across West Bank, according to Ma'an News Agency, a Palestinian media.
