ISL News: Morgan Credits Tactical Change for Kerala Blasters' First Win, While Colomba Admits Pune Made Too Many Errors

Kerala Blasters assistant manager Trevor Morgan revealed that his side's chance of tactics resulted in them beating FC Pune City 2-1 and with it recording their first win in the Indian Super League.

Despite the Blasters trailing to an early David Trezeguet strike, they made a fighting comeback as CS Sabeeth levelled the scores in the closing stages of the first half, before Penn Orji netted the winner just after the hour mark.

And Morgan revealed that Renedy Singh being substituted in the first half was a tactical decision.

"Renedy Singh was a tactical switch and Mehtab's was an injury, so we had to save the last sub because if we had any more injuries we would have been down to 10 men. Luckily we got the two goals and got the points!" the 58-year-old Englishman told ISL's official website.

However, Morgan admitted he was disappointed after seeing his side concede another setpiece goal.

"We were really disappointed with the goal we conceded - out of all the five goals we've conceded in this tournament, four have been from dead ball situations," he added.

"It was a freekick and no one was there to stop the ball. This is something we work on in training. If you switch off you get punished."

Finally Morgan insists that his side are already concentrating on their next fixture at Mumbai City FC on Sunday.

"I don't think it will be an easy game, I don't think any game will be easy," added the former East Bengal coach. "We're away from home again, Mumbai have just come away with a bad result, so we might have another backlash on the cards."

Meanwhile, Pune City boss Franco Colomba feels that his side made too many mistakes against the Blasters, which eventually cost them the game.

"We made many crucial mistakes," the Italian said. "Kerala played really well and it was very difficult to break them down."

After FC Pune City's win over Zico's FC Goa in their last fixture, they were expected to get the better of the Blasters, who had not managed to record a single win in the ISL.

However, that did not happen and the former Napoli boss admits that it is very difficult to find consistency in the an "unpredictable league" like the ISL.

"It's very difficult, because it's a very unpredictable league. When you win one match, it becomes very important to win the next one as well," he said.

Still Colomba insists that his side will be looking to do well in their next fixture against NorthEast United FC on Monday.

"Now we must think about the next match and try to improve," added the 59-year-old Italian.
