Nevertheless, no matter what happens, none of the past records matter when teams clash in the grand finale. It is another one-off football match, the result of which gets decided via extra time and penalties if the scores are level following the regulatory 90 minutes of play.

"This Kerala team has shown how to play like a team and I think the best defenders are in Kerala and in the last game they did well," mentioned ATK marquee player Helder Postiga in the pre-match presser.

Neither Atletico de Kolkata coach Jose Molina nor Kerala Blasters coach Steve Coppell has managed the Indian football sides in the previous seasons. So they are also looking forward to a fitting storyline for themselves.

"It will be a comfortable atmosphere for us as it is our home ground and the crowd gives us huge support but the crowd doesn't play and whoever wins tomorrow [Sunday] has got to earn the trophy by playing well and being committed," mentioned the experienced Coppell. "The crowd is a great background for us to play against but it is not going to give us goals and stop goals from going in.

"It is more pleasant for us and I am glad we are at home but it means nothing in terms of two teams playing against each other," the Englishman explained. "Once you are on the field it doesn't really matter what happens outside and I hope tomorrow is going to be about who is going to be the best team on the evening and I hope it is good football and the kind of football that everyone wants to see."
