Chiyaan Vikram's Iru Mugan has reached an important milestone as the film hit a century by grossing over Rs 100 crore at the worldwide box office at the end of its third weekend.

According to trade reports, Iru Mugan reached the mark on Saturday, 24 September. The collection of the film has remained steady despite some new releases. The film has performed well and ran into packed houses at many centres.

The movie had minted Rs 51.19 crore in four-day first weekend and the total collection of the film stood at Rs 90.07 crore by the end of its second weekend. This has now become the third biggest hit of 2016 after Rajinikanth's Kabali and Vijay's Theri, which reportedly earned over Rs 300 crore and Rs 150 crore, respectively.

Iru Mugan was made with a budget of Rs 40 crore and the flick has turned out to be a profitable venture not only for the producer, but also for the distributors and exhibitors, say reports.

It has earned over Rs 8 crore in Kerala. But the business of the film in Karnataka took a toll following the Cauvery dispute.

Iru Mugan, which has Nayanthara and Nithya Menen in the female leads, has been directed by Anand Shankar and produced by Shibu Thameens.
