Gunmen reportedly kidnapped several Turkish individuals from Baghdad on Wednesday.

At least 17 Turks, who are said to be construction workers, were abducted by masked gunmen dressed in military uniforms.

The Turkish workers were kidnapped early on Wednesday from their construction site in Sadr City in Baghdad, The Associated Press reported.

It is not clear which group was behind the kidnapping, though Isis has carried out several such crimes in Iraq over the last year.

Turkey recently joined the US-led coalition in launching airstrikes against Isis militants. It also opened some of its air bases to US warplanes carrying out the anti-Isis operations.
