Kolkata Knight Riders have been one of the best teams in IPL 2017, winning seven matches so far and lie at the second place in the standings. The Gautam Gambhir-led side seems to have received a major boost as Australian Chris Lynn is gradually recovering from his shoulder injury and could make a return next week.

Though there is no official date for his return, Lynn is sure to play for KKR before the Playoffs, which will please their fans. With both Gambhir and Robin Uthappa in blistering forms, Lynn will only strengthen their batting line-up.

Lynn took the world by storm with a swashbuckling innings in his first appearance for KKR in IPL 2017, scoring 93 runs and followed that with 32. It was in his second match against MI that the Australian injured his shoulder while attempting a diving catch in the boundary line. As soon as he fell on his shoulder, Lynn called for medical attention, and he was taken off the field with his remaining stint in IPL 2017 coming in question.

There were concerns if that was the last piece of action for Lynn. The opener, then, after his scan on the right shoulder reflected no major damage, Lynn decided to stay back with the team and get it treated. He did not go to Australia, and he will represent his nation in the Champions Trophy for which he has already been selected.

He can use his remaining IPL 2017 stint to get back to form ahead of the Champions Trophy too, and also help KKR win their third IPL title. With KKR more or less having sealed their Playoffs spot, Lynn is looking to play some matches before the Playoff starts.

As of now, KKR have four group stage matches with two of them being this week, and the other two next week. It would not be a big surprise if he plays against Kings XI Punjab on May 9.

"The shoulder is slowly getting there. I had a cortisone injection the other day and it worked really well. I'd like to ideally play a game or two before the finals. It would be a bit unfair on the teammates to rock up into a final not having played a game (since the injury)," cricket.com.au  quoted Lynn as saying.
