The ninth season of the Vivo Indian Premiere League (IPL) is off to a glamorous start with Bollywood biggies and international celebrities performing at the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony, which will be held at the Dome @ NSCI-SVP Stadium in Mumbai, April 8, will kick start at 7.30 p.m. IST.

The IPL 2016 opening ceremony will begin at 7.30 p.m. IST (3 p.m. BST, 11 a.m. ET). Set Max, Sony Six, Sony Six HD, Sony ESPN and Sony ESPN HD will provide the live coverage of the opening ceremony in India. The live coverage will be available for mobile and tablet users as well. Performances

Bollywood celebrities Katrina Kaif, Ranveer Singh, Jacqueline Fernandez and Yo Yo Honey Singh will enthrall audiences with their sizzling performances. "It's #showday Vivo #IPL opening night!! #nervesarekickingin," Jacqueline tweeted hours before her live performance.

All-girl English band TBC, over 200 dancers, artists, and percussionists are expected to perform at the event. The opening ceremony will also have live performances by American rapper Chris Brown, American dancehall reggae trio Major Lazer, English rapper Fuse ODG and Jamaican-American recording artist Nailah Thorbourne.

"At IPL we treat the whole city like one scene and we bring everyone out for music, food, and just good energy all around. All of us in Major Lazer are excited to be back in India bringing the carnival to the fans," music group Major Lazer said in a statement, according to Press Trust of India.
