Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan who is set to perform in the opening ceremony of IPL 2013 has roped in his "Om Shanti Om" and "Chennai Express" co-star, Deepika Padukone, for the grand inaugural event.

According to reports, Shahrukh will share the stage with both Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone at the Kolkata's Salt Lake Stadium on 2 April.

"Deepika is SRK's heroine in his next and he was very keen to have her on board. When the idea was pitched to Deepika, she readily agreed to it," a source told The Times Of India.

Deepika who is presently shooting in Wai for "Chennai Express" is also busy practicing for her performance at the event.

"After pack-up, she rehearses for the big night. Some of the songs from SRK's movies have been shortlisted and the costumes are being finalised," revealed a source. 

While Deepika had previously performed in the opening ceremony of IPL 2010, this year's event would be the first for Katrina.

Shahrukh's production company Red Chillies, the organiser of the event, has also managed to rope in international rapper Pitbull for the opening gala. A strong audience of around 1, 20, 000 is expected to turn up for the event.

During the fifth season of IPL, several actors like Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra performed on stage. The event also had American pop star Katy Perry entertaining the crowds with popular hits like "Teenage dream."

The sixth edition of IPL will kick off on 3 April with a match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils.
