Apple Inc. hasn't revealed the release date and specifications of its upcoming flagship smartphone dubbed as iPhone 6 but an online carrier has surprisingly opened pre-orders for the device.

The Cupertino giant will unveil its much-anticipated iPhone 6 at its media event scheduled on 9 September but no further details are known till date.

However, China Mobile Ltd kicked off pre-orders for both 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch models of iPhone 6 earlier this month for prospective buyers in Beijing and has received over 33,000 orders, according to a report by China Daily. 

The website said that it is not sure if the pre-orders will be expanded to the rest of the country besides Beijing and sources added that the device might be made available by mid-September. It went on to say that another carrier, consumer-to-consumer e-commerce platform, Taobao has claimed hundreds of stores expecting to receive iPhone 6 asking for down payment of 5,000 yuan ($810).

Meanwhile, Apple Inc. is all set to unveil some of its products on 9 September at its schedule media event at the company's headquarters in Cupertino, California.

The Cupertino giant may also announce iWatch along with iPhone 6, as its invitation that reads, "Wish we could say more," and the "9.9.2014" date mentioned could be taken as a hint that it is planning to unveil more than one device, according to Christian Post

There are also reports that the company might launch the 5.5-inch model of iPhone 6 at a later date, but nothing is confirmed at the moment.

Apple Inc. will provide online live streaming of its media event to its fans across the globe. iPhone, iPad, and iTouch users can watch the keynote of the event through iTune, while others can live stream on Apple.com through Safari web browser.

It is reported that Apple Inc. will unveil two models of iPhone 6, one with a 4.7-inch display and the other with 5.5-inch. According to KDB Daewoo Securities, the smaller model may have a 1920x1080p (440ppi) resolution while the larger variant may feature a 2272×1280 (510ppi) resolution. The screen of both the models are expected to be protected by sapphire crystal glass, powered by A8 chip (64-bit) processor and run on iOS 8 operating system.

Reports also have it that iPhone 6 will come with the same 8MP camera seen in its predecessor iPhone 5s, but with flash and Optical Image Stabilization, and come packed with 32/64/128 GB internal memory and 1GB RAM. It may have several other features like Touch ID fingerprint security, NFC, metal casing, and sensors that can detect pressure, temperature and humidity.
