Fikru Teferra, who was a member of the inaugural Indian Super League (ISL) champions Atletico de Kolkata last year, will play for Chennaiyin FC in the second edition of the tournament that took Indian football to new heights.

Fikru wants to be at his best and also wants to win the ISL yet again, but this time with the Chennai-based franchise, which is co-owned by MS Dhoni and Abhishek Bachchan.

"I want to win it again and perform even better this time. We have a very good group here at Chennaiyin and have the potential to go all the way." Fikru was quoted as saying by Goal.

Fikru, who has 29 international caps for Ethiopia, had a heart-to-heart conversation with the Chennaiyin FC manager Materazzi and after this he was convinced to join the latter's side for ISL 2.0.

"They were undoubtedly one of the best teams last year," the striker added. "A conversation with [coach] Marco [Materazzi] convinced me to join Chennaiyin FC. The way he spoke to me - it helped me make my mind up. It was a very positive conversation and we have already built-up a great understanding in preseason."

"He is a legend so there is plenty to learn from him but he understands me. In fact he understands all the players and that makes it easier for each of us. We all enjoy training under him and look forward to a successful season."

Fikru also made it quite clear that he does not hold any grudge against his former side Atletico de Kolkata, who did not retain him for ISL 2015. Fikru scored five goals in 12 matches for the defending champions last year and established himself as one of the best strikers in the league in the first season.

"I have no disappointments, sometimes in life things don't work out. I am not thinking about the past and only looking forward to performing for Chennaiyin FC," he added.

Scoring goals for Chennaiyin FC in ISL 2015 is not the only agenda for Fikru, but going all the way is what he is focussing on. Fikru also promised that he will not leave any stone unturned and is training hard for the upcoming season of the Indian Super League 2015.

"As a forward the objective in every game is to score but the ultimate goal is to make Chennaiyin FC the champions," Fikru said.
