Sony Norde (C) is expected to form a potent strike partnership with Sunil Chhetri and Nicolas Anelka in the upcoming ISL season for Mumbai City FCAIFF

Mohun Bagan star forward Sony Norde is set to feature for Indian Super League side Mumbai City FC in the second season of the lucrative tournament.

The club announced the signing of the lethal Haiti forward, along with the announcement of the retaining of Czech defender Pavel Cmovs.

Norde, 28, doubled up as a dead ball specialist and a lethal goalscorer during his time with the I-League champions in 2014-15 season, and he was one of the most influential foreign players in the domestic league last season.

He scored a total of 11 goals in 25 appearances for Bagan last season, and his performances resulted in him making an appearance for the Haiti national team in the CONCACAF Gold Cup last week.

"I am extremely happy to have been signed for Mumbai City FC. I can't wait to join my new team for the pre season training. The ISL is a new challenge for me and I am looking forward to helping Mumbai City FC achieve success." Norde said via the ISL side's press release.

The signing of Norde has bolstered the already-strong attacking lineup of the Mumbai side. With India talisman Sunil Chhetri and France great Nicolas Anelka already present in the side, Norde will add more cutting edge to Mumbai City FC.

The Ranbir Kapoor co-owned side also retained the services of Cmovs, who had been influential for Mumbai City in the ISL last season.

The 6 ft 2 inch no-nonsense defender clocked up 13 appearances for Mumbai in ISL 2014, and he helped his side picking up a clean sheet on six occasions.

"I'm extremely happy and excited to be back for Mumbai City FC for season 2 of the ISL. The fans never gave up last year and I want to ensure that we give them more victories to cheer for this season."

With so many big names arriving this summer, it is expected that Mumbai City FC is slated to finish way higher than they did in the league table last season.

In the last season of the ISL, MCFC, led by English gaffer Peter Reid, finished seventh in the league table, just one position above rockbottom side NorthEast United FC.

In ISL 2015, Mumbai City -- coached by marquee manager and player Anelka -- start their campaign against FC Pune City on 5 October.
