This year's International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa will feature seven Malayalam films in the Indian Panorama.

"Munnariyippu" directed by Venu, "Drishyam" by Jeethu Joseph, "Swapaanam" by Shaji N Karun, "Njaan" by Ranjith, "1983" by Abrid Shine, "North 24 Kaatham" by Anil Radhakrishnan and "Njan Steve Lopez" by Rajeev Ravi are the Malayalam films listed in this year's Indian Panorama.

"Munnariyippu" directed by Venu is a suspense thriller starring Mammootty and Aparna Gopinath in the lead. The film, which was released on 22 August. had garnered the best reviews from critics and audience alike. The film was appreciated for the excellent performances by the actors and the storyline and the other aspects of the film were also reviewed as the best.

"Njaan" directed by Ranjith had hit screens on 19 September was noticed for some prodigious performances by the actors. The film stars Dulquer Salmaan in the lead and was based on the "KTN Kottur Ezhuthum Jeevithavum" by TP Rajeev. The film was reviewed as one of the classic films of the time and had explored different aspects of human nature.

Meanwhile, Dulquer Salmaan shared his excitement on Twitter, saying, "So thrilled to know that both #Munnariyippu and #Njaan have been selected for the Indian Panorama! Big congrats to everyone involved!!" 

"Drishyam" directed by Jeethu Joseph is one of the biggest hits in the history of the Malayalam cinema history. The film starred Mohanlal and Meena in the lead family is a family drama thriller with the right mix of comedy, sentiments and other entertaining factors of a typical Indian film.

"1983" directed by Abrid Shine is a sports drama film starring Nivin Pauly in the lead. The film deals with the life of a young man Rameshan played by Nivin Pauly and how his life is influenced by 1983 cricket World Cup win of India under the captaincy of Kapil Dev.

Next film that is included in the list is "Njan Steve Lopez" directed by Rajeev Ravi stars Farhaan Faasil and Ahaana Krishnakumar are often referred as cult cinema of the recent times in Malayalam cinema. The film revolves around the life of teenage boy and is again noted for some excellent performances and directorial quality.

"Swapaanam" directed by Shaji N Karun stars Jayaram in the film. The film revolves around the life of master drummer who plays traditional "Chenda" and how his life is torn between different moods of love, passion, jealousy, hate and spite. The film offers some excellent moments of acting by Jayaram.

Last on the list is "North 24 Kaatham" directed by Anil Radhakrishnan Menon, which was released on September. The film has Fahadh Faasil, Nedumudi Venu and Swathi Reddy in the lead role. The film was given National Film Awards for the Best Feature Film in Malayalam and has also won State Award for Best Actor (Fahadh Faasil) and Second Best Film of the year.

This year's film festival will feature a total of 26 films in Indian Panorama as Goa is getting ready for the 45th International Film Festival India, set to take place from 20 to 30 November.
