Stephen Constantine has been reappointed as the head coach of the Indian National football team, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) confirmed.

The AIFF, who have been hunting for a new head coach following the exit of Dutch boss Wim Koevermans in October, had earlier confirmed that general secretary Kushal Das would be making an offer to Constantine.

And now the India football governing committee have confirmed that the former Sudan boss has accepted the offer.

The 52-year-old Englishman, who was the manager of Indian football team from 2002 to 2005, is expected to officially take over the reins in the first week of February.

Apart from the senior team, Constantine will also be taking charge of the India U-23 National Team.

During his earlier spell in India, Constantine helped the senior football team emerge victorious in the 2002 LG Cup in Vietnam and finish runners-up in the 2003 Afro Asian Games.

Constantine's appointment has also been confirmed by his former side Rwanda, who attained their highest-ever Fifa world ranking of 68 under the Englishman.

"Stephen Constantine will no longer be the head coach of the Amavubi and in his explanation, he said that he got a better deal from India, one better than the one we were offering him," Rwanda Football Federation (Ferwafa) spokesman Moussa Hakizimana told SuperSport.
