India have a tough match against Australia, Friday.Reuters

India have their task cut out as they prepare to face Spain in the six-nation invitational tournament on Sunday. The game is expected to be an interesting one, with both teams keen on snatching a victory after failing to impress in the competition.

India have not been able to play great hockey so far, as they have suffered defeat to Germany and New Zealand, and drew against Argentina. Their only positive result has been a victory against Ireland, hence there is a serious need for India to come with a better game if they are to register their second victory in the six-nation tournament.

However, India can take some inspiration from their last game against Argentina, where they drew 3-3. They showed some great character to comeback after going down 3-1, but some brilliant play in the second half helped them scored two more goals to draw the game level.

Now, India need to use that second half momentum into their last fixture against Spain, and try to finish the six-nation in a high. Spain, on the other hand, have also been struggling, losing two matches so far. Such record of Spain will raise India's hopes of a win.

India players like Ramandeep Singh and VR Raghunanth need to be solid at the back, and offencive stars like SV Sunil can use his pace to exploit Spain's defence. But skipper Sardar Singh will hold the key, the way he controls the game in the midfield. If the captain enjoys a good match, India should be in a comfortable position to emerge victorious.

India are using this competition as major-build up for the Rio Olympics, which starts next month. Spain, likewise, are also using tournament as preparations for the same, will be keen to use their home support, and shine to defeat India, giving their fans a reason to cheer.
