Kochi, Nov 07 (ANI): Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh said that there is need for 'blue revolution' in the country for further development of aquaculture as an important agricultural activity without ruining the environment. Aquaculture refers to all forms of active culturing of aquatic animals and plants, occurring in marine, brackish, or fresh waters. Singh was speaking at the inauguration of two-day Global Agro Meet in Kerala. In July this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also called for 'blue revolution'. The international conference and exposition on value added agriculture and food processing, to promote agriculture and agro processing sector in the state, began in Kochi on Thursday. It was inaugurated by Singh in the presence of Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. The agro expo will be on for three days during which various products made of fruits and vegetables will also be kept on display. Meanwhile, Singh said there should be discussion on dealing with wastage of fruits and vegetables during storage.
