It was predicted to be a goal fest from the India hockey team -- the second most successful team behind Australia, in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup's history. However, what turned out from the final league match of the hockey tournament's 2017 edition on Friday May 5, remained utterly disappointing for the Indian hockey fans.

India were beaten 1-0 by the hosts Malaysia, who despite the win, finish at the bottom of the six-team table at the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2017 tournament.

The only goal of the match came from Shahril Saabah, who converted beautifully from a penalty corner. As for India, shockingly, none of the penalty corners seemed to work on the day, leaving national team coach Roelant Oltmans utterly frustrated in the sidelines. Needless to say, the Indian hockey fans, too were left aghast.

Here's how the table looks following the match

Ranking Team Points Goal difference
1 Australia 10 +7
2 Great Britain 10 +3
3 India 7 +1
4 New Zealand 7 -3
5 Japan  4 -3
6 Malaysia 4 -6
