The 67th Independence Day will be celebrated on 15 August throughout India to mark the historic event when the nation became free from the clutches of British rule.

This year's Independence Day falls on a Thursday and several companies, organisations have already declared a holiday on Friday (16 August) as well. It will be a long weekend for many and one of the best ways to unwind is to watch a good film.

Here, we give you a list of films that will be releasing on the eve of Independence Day in India.

Bollywood

Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobaara (OUATIMD): "OUATIMD", a crime gangster film, is all set to release on 15 August. The film has Akshay Kumar, Imran Khan and Sonakshi Sinha in key roles. It is a sequel to "Once Upon A Time In Mumbai" which released in 2010 and went on to become a big hit.

The sequel was initially slated for release on 9 August. But it was delayed in a bid to avoid a clash with "Chennai Express". The SRK starrer is doing good business at the domestic and international box offices. It remains to be seen if the release of "OUATIMD" will affect "Chennai Express" collections during the Independence Day weekend.

Hollywood

"Jobs": The biopic starring Ashton Kutcher, will release a day after Independence Day in India. Directed by Joshua Michael Stern, the film is based on the life of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, who passed away in 2012 due to pancreatic cancer. Ashton plays the role of the late Jobs, whereas Josh Gad, JK Simmons, Matthew Modine and Dermot Mulroney appear in supporting roles.

Tamil

The only Tamil that will make it to the theatres this Thursday is "Aadhalal Kaadhal Seiveer" ("So You Should Love"), directed by Suseenthiran of "Azhagarsamiyin Kuthirai" fame.

Actor Vijay's much-awaited film "Thalaivaa", which has been stalled from getting released in Tamil Nadu (TN), was expected to hit the theatres for Independence Day. But there is still uncertainty as to whether the film would release this weekend in the state.

Telugu

"Dalam": Directed by Ram Gopal Verma's disciple Jeevan Reddy, "Dalam" has Naveen Chandra and Piya Bajpai in lead roles. The film is reportedly a youth-oriented action entertainer that has Kishore and Nassar in supporting roles.

"Adda": After taking a long gap, Sushanth, grandson of veteran Telugu actor Dr Akkineni Nageswara Rao, will be returning to the silver screen with "Adda".

Directed by G Karthik Reddy, "Adda" has Shanvi of "Lovely" fame playing the female lead. The film's songs, composed by Anup Rubens, have already scored a good response. As there are no big Telugu releases, "Adda" is expected to do well at the box office.

Kannada

"Jayammana Maga" (Son of Jayammana): This film is "Duniya" Vijay's first production venture to hit the theatres on 15 August. The shooting of the film, which commenced a year ago, was completed recently. "Jayammana Maga" has received an "A" certificate from the censor board. Dr Bharathi, who debuted with "Krishna Son of CM", is starring with Vijay.

The role of Vijay's mother Jayamma is played by award-winning actress Kalyani.

Punjabi

"Punjab Bolda": The film takes reference from historical events that shaped Punjab including Anti-Sikh riots of 1984 or partition of India. Directed by Ravinder Peepat, the film has Sabjit Cheema, Anisha Pooja, Gurpeet Guggi and Benny D in significant roles.
