India observed the 143th birthday of Mahatma Gandhi on Tuesday, with various top political dignitaries, including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President Pranab Mukherjee visiting his samadhi at Rajghat in New Delhi to pay homage on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

Gandhi didn't just liberate the enslaved nation but also shared his ideologies and wisdom to make the world a better place for mankind.

Here's some of Gandhi's wisdom in quotes that would help citizens live better lives:

"Honest differences are often a healthy sign of progress."

"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."

"The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated."

"A 'No' uttered from the deepest conviction is better than a 'Yes' merely uttered to please, or worse, to avoid trouble."
