KaththiFacebook/ Actor Vijay

Vijay's "Kaththi" is doing exceptional business at the worldwide box office and the film has reportedly minted ₹30 crore in its opening weekend and continues to perform well.

Following the stupendous success of the film, several Telugu film producers seem to have shown interest in remaking the Vijay starrer. Power Star Pawan Kalyan is reportedly being considered for the Telugu remake.

"Kaththi" Telugu dubbing rights was acquired by distributor Madhu and the film was expected to hit screens simultaneously with the Tamil version. But, it was later announced that the Telugu version will release on 31 October. Latest buzz is that the film might not make it to theatres on the scheduled date.

With Telugu producers vying for "Kaththi" remake rights, it is not clear whether the Telugu dubbed version will hit the screens. Although the makers of "Kaththi" have sold the dubbing rights of the film, they have apparently not sold its remake rights.

"Several producers have expressed interest to remake Kaththi in Telugu. Pawan Kalyan is the top contender in the list of actors to play the lead in the remake. But the makers of the original haven't yet sold the remake rights," a source close to "Kaththi" producers told IANS.

It seems Vijay is not interested in the Telugu remake and prefers the dubbed version of the film to be released soon. "Vijay sir was really not keen about remake. He wanted the dubbed Telugu version to be released," said the source.

"Kaththi" in Hindi?

There have already been reports that "Kaththi" might be remade in Hindi with Akshay Kumar in the lead role. It may be recalled that Akshay starred in the Hindi remake of "Thuppakki," directed by A.R. Murugadoss. The Hindi version titled "Holiday- A Soldier is Never Off Duty" fared well and earned more than ₹100 crore at the domestic box office. With "Kaththi" doing extraordinary business, there are huge chances that the film could be remade in Hindi.

However, there is no official confirmation regarding the Telugu as well as the Hindi remake of "Kaththi."

Starring Vijay in dual roles, "Kaththi" is commercial entertainer which also has a social message. Vijay's performance has received appreciation from the audience and critics alike. The film is expected to continue its good business at the box office as there are no big releases for at least a week.
