Atlee Kumar had earlier hinted at a possible sequel to his recent movie "Theri." With the movie becoming a success, reports of the second instalment of the Vijay-starrer have surfaced online.

As per the Times of India, the second part will highlight the story of a father and daughter's relationship. "The second part will revolve around actor Vijay and his relationship with his daughter, who will, to keep the continuity alive, be more grown up. Vijay's real-life daughter, Divya, will play his reel-life daughter in the sequel, too," a source told the daily.

The script of the second instalment has already been written by Atlee Kumar. However, the makers are yet to formally open up on their plans. 

"Theri" is a revenge drama, which is loaded with emotions and actions. The Kalaippuli S Thanu-produced film has Samantha and Amy Jackson playing the female lead roles. The Tamil flick was released on April 14 and reportedly grossed over Rs. 115 crore worldwide.

In Tamil Nadu alone, "Theri" has grossed about Rs. 70 crore. It has also done well in the overseas centres where it has earned close to Rs. 45 crore.

Meanwhile, the actor is busy with his next film, which is being directed by Bharathan and produced by Vijaya Productions. After being launched on April 11, the film started its regular shooting on May 2. Currently, the introductory song of Ilayathalapathy is being filmed at Binny Mills in Chennai.

The movie, which is presently being referred to as "Vijay 60," has Keerthy Suresh in the female lead role. The flick will hit screens in January 2017. It is only after the completion of this flick, "Theri 2" is expected to begin.
