Hyundai Motor India, India's second-largest car manufacturer is reportedly gearing up to pull the wraps off its next offering, the Grand i10 sedan on 4 February 2014, a day before the Delhi Auto Expo.
Hyundai Grand i10 Sedan, a car which is said to be the successor of Accent has been caught testing in India several times. The car is based on Hyundai's Grand i10 hatchback, which has been very popular in the country since its launch. It now appears that the Korean manufacturer is looking to set up new competition in the compact sedan market with the launch of the Grand i10 based sedan.
According to the OverDrive report, the company will price the upcoming sedan aggressively in the domestic market, which could even be lesser than the current leaders such as Honda Amaze, Maruti Swift Dzire and the Tata Indigo eCS. If the reports are to be believed the car is likely to fall in the ₹5 lakh price bracket.
Earlier reports suggested that that the sedan would flaunt the same roof line of the hatchback. The car is expected to introduce major tweaks in the styling and interior space and is likely to be offered in petrol and diesel variants in the country.
The petrol variant will with 1.2-liter Kappa2 petrol engine, which can churn out a power of 83PS @ 6,000rpm and a peak torque of and 114Nm @ 4,000rpm.On the other hand, the diesel model of the car is expected to pack 1.1-liter U2 CRDI diesel motor under the hood, which can generate 71PS power and 160Nm torque.
Besides Grand i10 sedan, Hyundai will also unveil its latest version of seven-seater Santa Fe SUV in India at the 2014 Auto expo. The carmaker, for the first time, will locally assemble the car at its Chennai plant. According to rumours, the latest avatar of Santa Fe would pack the 2.2-litre CRDi diesel engine under the hood, which can generate a power of 194bhp and a peak torque of 422Nm.
