Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) launched the new special edition of its Grand i10 hatchback in the country on Wednesday, May 25, at a price point of Rs. 5.68 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The new 20th-anniversary special edition of the Grand i10 has reportedly been launched as part of Hyundai anniversary celebrations in India.
"The Grand i10 has been a trendsetter and India's most-loved hatchback, winning many awards, including the coveted Indian Car of the Year 2014. Introduction of the Grand i10 special edition will further enhance the value proposition of the product and [it] aims to achieve the highest customer satisfaction," said Rakesh Srivastava, senior vice-president of sales and marketing at HMIL in a statement.
To be available only on the mid-level trim — SportZ — both in petrol and diesel engine options, the new edition of the Grand i10 gets blacked out B-Pillar, a rear spoiler and body graphics. The special edition also comes with a 20th Anniversary Special Edition badge. Coming to the interior, the Grand i10 20th anniversary special edition gets red and black interiors with a 6.2-litre touchscreen infotainment system.
Mechanically, the special edition is the same as the current model and continues to draw power from a 1.2-litre Kappa engine that can churns out 82bhp and 116Nm and a 1.1-litre three cylinder U2 VGT motor that delivers 70bhp power and 163Nm of torque. The special edition will be available in pure white colour.
Launched in India in 2013, the Grand i10, the bestselling model of the company, has already had over 3.08 lakh customers in India, according to HMIL. As part of the celebration, Hyundai has also launched a special edition of the Xcent compact sedan for a starting price of Rs. 6.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
