The year is going to be a busy one for South Korean auto maker Hyundai as the company looks to repeat last year's success story with the launch of new models in the country. Auto enthusiasts in the country have already gotten a clear idea of the models that are getting ready to hit Indian roads from the house of Hyundai this year.

Rumour mills have been on overdrive for the last few weeks with several launch dates linked with South Korean auto maker's next big tickets -- Elite i20 Cross and ix25. Now to add to that, a recent report of Business Standard, citing sources close to the development, revealed that Hyundai's Elite i20 Cross will be presented to its fans in the country in March and the SUV ix25 will be revealed in August.

Elite i20 Cross

Elite i20 Cross, a model based on Hyundai's Elite i20 is expected to get similar design as its smaller sibling and get additions like plastic-cladding, roof-railing and side-body cladding.

The model is expected to get a front fascia with new projector headlight with LED daytime running lights and new big alloy wheels. Inside the cabin too, the new Elite i20 Cross is likely to include changes. Under the hood, the upcoming crossover is expected to include the same engine of its sibling Elite i20.

The current Elite i20 packs 1.2 litre petrol engine and 1.4 litre CRDi diesel motor. The petrol engine is tuned to churn out 83PS power and a peak torque of 114Nm and the diesel motor capable of generating 90PS power and a peak torque of 220Nm. Elite i20 Cross will be pitted against Toyota Etios Cross, Fiat Avventura and Volkswagen Polo Cross and the model is expected to get a price tag of around ₹8 lakh.

The compact SUV ix25, Hyundai's first offering in this segment will be rivalling India's popular SUVs Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster, Mahindra Scorpio and Nissan Terrano in India.

As for the engines, the India-specific version of Hyundai ix25 is likely to include 1.6 litre petrol and diesel units. ix25 is sold in a few international markets with 1.6- and 2.0-litre petrol engines coupled to 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions with choices of front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The model is likely to get features like central console with audio controls, air con vents and climate controls are on the menu.

Speaking of the pricing, expect it to fall in the price range of ₹8 lakh to ₹12 lakh.
