Hyundai Creta SUVPR handout

The Creta compact SUV has become one of the most successful vehicles launched in India by Hyundai Motor India. The vehicle became the most selling SUV in the country in August and the demand is still growing with bookings at the start of October standing at 54,000, according to reports.

Now, the Korean maker wants to replicate the same success story in the international market. As part of the plan, Indian made Creta is launched in Vietnam through Hyundai Thanh Cong. The Creta sold in Vietnam is made in Hyundai Motor India's Chennai manufacturing facility and is exported in left-hand drive version.

Visually, there are no changes for the Creta sold in Vietnam and in India. The Creta sold in Vietnam is powered by 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines. The 1591cc four-cylinder petrol engine develops 123bhp at 6,400rpm and 151Nm of torque at 4,850rpm. The diesel unit is the 1582cc CRDi engine that develops 128bhp at 4,000rpm and 260Nm of torque in the range of 1900-2750rpm. Both the engines are only available with six-speed automatic transmission.

Hyundai Creta measures 4,270mm in length 1,780mm in width and 1,665mm in height with ground clearance of 190mm. On the safety front, the Creta in Vietnam comes with ABS, EBS, electronic brake force distribution EBD, ESC Electronic Stability.

The Hyundai Creta in Vietnam has been priced 806 million Vietnamese Dong (Rs 23.52 lakh) for the petrol variant and the 1.6 diesel has been priced at Vietnamese Dong 846 million (Rs 24.69 lakh).

Hyundai had to postpone the export of the Creta due to the overwhelming demand in India. The manufacuter increased its planned production of 5,000 units per month to 70,000 units which seems to have helped Hyundai to start exporting.
