Chinese smartphone maker Huawei is reportedly planning to roll out a 6.1-inch phablet to the lucrative Indian smartphone market in June.

A source in close contact with technology website The Mobile Indian revealed that "Huawei Ascend Mate will be launched in first week of June in India for a price tag of around ₹29,000."

Huawei Ascend Mate sports a monster 6.1-inch IPS HD LCD screen with 1280x720p display resolution and it runs on the Android mobile OS v4.1 Jelly Bean powered by a 1.GHz quad-core Hi-Silicon K3V2 processor with Intel XMM6260 baseband.

The phablet houses an 8.0-megapxiel rear side camera with auto-focus and HDR, and a 1.0-megapixel HD camera on the front.

If the speculations of Huawei's Ascend Mate launch in India turn out true, the phablet will pose a stiff challenge to Samsung's Galaxy Note Series which also falls in the same price range.

Earlier, Huawei had globally unveiled Ascend Mate at the international electronics convention CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2013 in January this year.
