Huawei is one of many budget smartphone vendors that have gained an impressive fan base in India. To keep a strong hold in the market, the company is coming out with new smartphones. Huawei's Director for Devices Sales, P Sanjeev, revealed the company's plans to launch affordable 4G-compatible smartphones under ₹10,000 by mid-2015.

Sanjeev did not reveal any specification details of the upcoming smartphone lineup but touted its wide array of 4G technology patents that will help in the development. The phone maker has cross patent agreements with several tech companies like Ericsson, Nokia, Microsoft, Alcatel Lucent and Qualcomm, as well as 12,000 patents solely filed by Huawei as of August 2014.

"We are largest owner of essential patents for 4G technology. The essential patents are technology required to connect with 4G network. Within 3-6 months, we have plans to launch 4G handsets below Rs 10,000," Huawei's Director for Devices Sales P Sanjeev told PTI, BGR reports. "The combination of our own patents and arrangement with other companies has helped us in making devices in affordable price range."

A sub-₹10,000 smartphone with 4G LTE support isn't entirely unique as other companies have already explored this area. Nokia's affordable Lumia 638 is a 4G-enabled smartphone priced at ₹8,299. Micromax announced its Yureka smartphone with 4G support and many other impressive features for just ₹8,999. If Huawei manages to add a unique beat to its 4G smartphones, there is a chance it might reach new heights.

In India, Xioami has ruled the smartphone industry with budget-friendly and feature-heavy phones and other companies like Micromax, OnePlus and Oppo are making their presence felt. Competitive pricing and great smartphone specs have become the new mantra for smartphone companies. Huawei's next move to launch cheap 4G phones will extend the current smartphone lineup.

Sanjeev also revealed that the company sold 80,000 units of its Honor Holy smartphone within a month of its launch. The smartphone packs impressive features, like a 5-inch display, 8MP camera and more for just ₹6,999.
