Huawei is all set to launch its latest premium smartphone, Honor 8, in India. The Chinese smartphone maker is holding an event in Goa on Wednesday, September 28, where it will reveal the pricing and availability details of the Honor 8 for Indian buyers.

Huawei Honor 8 was originally launched in China earlier this year. It remains to be seen whether the specifications will remain unchanged for the Indian market as well. If so, then it will certainly sweep the mid-range premium smartphone market with its charm.

As for the pricing, which is a mystery, the smartphone was released in China for ¥1,999 for the 3GB+32GB variant, ¥2,299 for 4GB+32GB model and finally ¥2,499 for 4GB+64GB version. If we go by the same, Honor 8 will start at around Rs 20,000 for the entry-level model and go up to Rs 25,000 for the high-end variant.

For that price, Honor 8 poses a stiff challenge to handsets like OnePlus 3, Xiaomi Mi 5 and LeEco Le Max 2.

In terms of specifications, Honor 8 features a 5.2-inch Full HD display with 2.5D curved glass, a dual rear camera set up at the back, both of which have a 12MP sensor, with dual-LED flash, f/2.2 aperture and Laser autofocus. On the front, there's a capable 8MP shooter with f/2.4 aperture.

Huawei Honor 8 is powered by a 64-bit 2.3GHz octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 950 processor with Mali T880 MP4 GPU, a 3,000mAh battery and Android 6.0 Marshmallow based Emoticon EMUI 4.1. The dual SIM smartphone also has a microSD card slot, which supports up to 128GB, 4G LTE support, USB Type-C port and a fingerprint scanner at the back.

Huawei will settle the rumours about Honor 8 price at the unveiling on Wednesday. The highlight is on the camera of the device, for which the company has been sharing tweets about photography class from photographer Sumit Dayal.
