Huawei has unveiled its Honor 4A smartphone though it has not announced a release date yet. It will be interesting to see how the model fares in the price-conscious Indian market, which is already thronged by budget smartphones that boast of attractive specifications.

Honor 4A is likely to fall in the price bracket of Rs 7,000-10,000 and will take on devices like Lenovo K3 Note (Rs 9,999), Xiaomi Redmi Note (Rs 9,999) and Lenovo A7000 (Rs 8,999) among others. It looks like Honor 4A will have a hard time competing with those devices.

Let's compare Honor 4A with Lenovo K3 Note, Xiaomi Redmi Note and Lenovo A7000:

Display: Lenovo K3 Note stands out in terms of display with a 5.5-inch screen offering FHD 1920x1080p (401 ppi pixel density) resolution, compared to 5.5-inch screen and 267 ppi resolution seen in Lenovo A7000 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G. However, Honor 4A sports a five-inch screen with 1280 x 720 pixels.

Processor: Lenovo K3 Note and Lenovo A7000 are powered by Mediatek [MT6752] Octa-core processor, while Redmi Note 4G houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400. Honor 4A has a much inferior processor - Qualcomm Snapdragon 210.

Operating System: Lenovo K3 Note runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop (with Vibe v2.5 UI), Redmi Note 4G has Android 4.2 Jelly Bean (upgradable to Android 4.4.2 KitKat), Lenovo A7000 has Android 5.0 Lollipop and Honor 4A will come with Android 5.1 Lollipop with Emotion UI 3.1.

Memory: Lenovo K3 Note comes packed with a 16 GB internal storage expandable up to 32 GB and 2 GB RAM. Honor 4A has the same feature except its microSD slot capacity is not known. The Redmi Note 4G has 8 GB internal memory expandable up to 64 GB and 2 GB RAM. Lenovo A7000 has 8 GB internal storage with microSD up to 32 GB and 2 GB RAM.

Camera: Lenovo K3 Note and Redmi Note 4G have 13 MP main camera and a 5 MP front snapper, while Lenovo A7000 has an 8 MP main camera and 5 MP front snapper. Honor 4A has an 8 MP main camera and 2 MP front snapper.

Battery: Redmi Note 4G has the most powerful battery - 3100 mAh – followed by Lenovo K3 Note (3000 mA), Lenovo A7000 (2900 mAh), and Honor 4A (2,200 mAh).

Conclusion: Huawei Honor 4A is inferior to the compared devices as far as specifications are concerned. It should be sold in India with a substantially reduced price to survive the competition. Lenovo K3 Note surely stands above the rest.
