Chinese electronics major Huawei on Tuesday (18 June) officially released its flagship Ascend Mate phablet into the Indian market.
The Ascend Mate phablet sports a 6.1-inch LCD screen with 1280x720p display resolution and runs on Android mobile OS v4.1 Jelly Bean powered by a high-capacity 4050 mAh battery.
Under the hood, it packs a 1.5GHz quad-core Hi-Silicon K3V2+Intel XMM6260 CPU having 2GB RAM, 8GB inbuilt memory which can be expanded up to 32GB through a microSD card. It houses a 8.0-megapixel main camera along with a 1.0-megapixel HD camera on the front.
The new Huawei phablet is reported to be available at select brick and mortar retail stores across India from Tuesday. Online shopping portal, Infibeam has listed the Ascend Mate on its website, but sales are yet to begin.
Considering specs and its price point, Huawei will take on smartphone leader Samsung, which also released a couple of phablets - Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Galaxy Mega 6.3 for ₹25,100 and ₹31,490, respectively, just a few weeks ago.
Earlier this month, Huawei had also released a tablet PC, MediaPad 10 Link, in India for ₹24,990. It sports a 10.1-inch IPS capacitive HD touch screen having 1280x800 pixel resolution and comes with Android v4.1 Jelly Bean OS run by 1.2GHz Cortex-A9 quad-core processor.
