Over the last few weeks, especially after the Samsung Galaxy S5 unveiling, lot of rumours and snapshots of the HTC's upcoming marquee phone dubbed as 'All New HTC One' aka M8 have begun to flood the Internet.
To further intensify the excitement among fan, HTC too, begun releasing official trailer videos and images giving hints about the new features in the phone. It began with mocking Galaxy S5 via twitter on 24 February, one nugget said - "Buyer's remorse: Coming soon to S5 owners. March 25" followed by another message - "Hope they're ready to be One-upped. See it. Hear it. Feel it. March 25".
By trolling Galaxy S5, HTC may have brought smiles to their fans, but in the melee, the company has also brought itself the burden of high expectations to outshine the Samsung's new flagship phone and especially considering company's current financial predicament, HTC M8's reception from consumer and critics will set the mood for the firm's future prospects this year.
Going by the numerous reports and official teaser videos and photos, HTC M8 aka 'All New HTC One' stand-out feature looks to be the camera, more advanced than its predecessor, which despite boasting innovative UltraPixel camera lens, failed to impress critics. We have also pieced together other expected key specifications which are expected to make the cut in the final product.
Display and Design:
In 2013, HTC One heaped huge appreciation from critics and fans for its zero-gap unibody metallic cover, especially for its aircraft grade aluminum metal alloy, which some critics went on to compare it as the Apple iPhone among the Android smartphones. This year too, HTC is likely to keep the same aesthetic metallic finish look for its successor with BoomSound dual-stereo speakers and bump in the display foot print..

According to numerous reports, new HTC phone would boast a 5.0-inch full HD display with pixel density of 440 plus ppi (pixels per inch).

Processor, RAM and Storage Capacity:
According to a trusted tipster, @evleaks HTC One is expected to ship with Snapdragon MSM8974 (800 series) processor, but he doubts that this specification may change before the official announcement of the phone.
The evleaks' apprehension is understandable considering the fact that the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S5 boasts Snapdragon 801 series chipset which can top CPU speed up to 2.5GHz, so there is a possibility that the new HTC phone too pack similar processor to match the rival with same level.
HTC new phone is pegged to pack minimum 2GB RAM and come in 32GB/64GB storage variants.
In 2013, HTC One, despite boasting innovative UltraPixel camera, it became the Achilles heel for the phone, failing to match up to the rivals like Nokia Lumia 1020, Galaxy S4 and Xperia Z1, but going by the recent reports, the 'All New HTC One' is expected to redeem its predecessor's short comings.
The recent snapshot posted by popular twitter spy, @evleaks, shows that the HTC's new phone will house two cameras on the rear-side with varying lens sizes, top camera module having smaller circumference, while the primary camera (with Dual-LED flash) features a wider lens, probably to absorb more light, thereby enabling user to snap sharp crisp pictures under low-light environment. Another plus point of having dual-cameras is that the device's primary camera can focus on an object, while secondary snapper can focus its surrounding environment giving enhanced field of depth in the captured photo.
HTC recent teaser video titled - 'HTC Technical Translation #3: ULTRAPIXEL' details the camera feature:
Even the Bloomberg report published in January too corroborate that the HTC's upcoming phone would boast twin lens sensors to enhance depth of field and image quality.
whereas the on the front, the phone is tipped to boast a 4.0-megapixel camera, reported Techradar.
Mobile Operating System:
HTC One successor is all but certain to ship with the latest Android OS KitKat version (v4.4.2) with the HTC's custom UI Sense v6.0.
Main features of KitKat OS include smarter caller ID, more organized message grouping Hangouts (now all text-SMS, audio and video chat will now be under one roof), quick access to settings, wireless printing (select HP printers), Quickoffice word document app, Bluetooth MAP (Message Access Profile) and many more.
