CES remains to be one of the most innovative arenas for anything that's tech to present itself in front of the world. The previously held CES 2015 wasn't any different, with innovation being the keyword. And one such innovative piece of tech, although mostly unsung, to come out of this year's CES was the HTC Desire 816.

After unveiling the handset at CES 2015, the Taiwan-based tech heavyweight launched the handset in China this week. There are two different variants of the handset, in terms of the internal storage that's on offer. While the 16GB storage variant of the phone has been priced at CNY 2,299 (around Rs. 22,000), the 32GB storage variant of it has a price tag of CNY 2,499 (around Rs. 24,000).

As revealed, the smartphone is currently set to be available for purchase starting this Thursday via the HTC eShop site. Although the smartphone's India pricing and launch dates still remain undecided, the handset has already been listed on the company's India page.

"Harnessing the most innovative technology in the world today, HTC, a global leader in mobile innovation and design, today announced the HTC Desire 826, helping people create the best possible mobile experiences by capturing the best of 'me' in photos, enjoying your best personal moments with stunning surround sound audio, and expressing the best of 'me' with bold design, colors and materials," the official page for the same states.

As far as the specs are concerned, the Desire 826 comes powered by an octa-core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor (four cores each at 1.5GHz and 1.0GHz, respectively) alongside Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The handset sports a 13-megapixel (f/2.2) rear camera with a 28mm lens, BSI sensor, alongside an LED flash, while the handset's front camera is a 4-UltraPixel shooter.

As impressive as the specs seem already, the 16GB or 32GB of in-built storage on Desire 826 is further expandable via microSD card up to another 128GB. Connectivity options on the HTC Desire 826 smartphone offer dual 4G, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS/ A-GPS, and Micro-USB.

The Desire 816 is powered by a 2600mAh battery. As far as overall size and appearance of the handset is concerned, the smartphone is 7.5mm thick and weighs 155 grams. Desire 826 comes in two-tone colour combinations, including White Birch, Blue Lagoon, and Purple Fire.

"The HTC Desire 826 will be available with mobile operators and major retailers in Asia-Pacific at the end of January 2015 and will roll out in other regions over subsequent months," the company previously stated.

HTC Desire 826: Potential Rivals
On release, the HTC Desire 826 faces quite the in-house battle for supremacy when it pits off against the likes of HTC Desire 816, Desire 820 and Desire Eye. It also faces some stick from the HTC One (M8) and Samsung Galaxy Note 4.
