HTC Desire 8 Specifications and Snapshots Surface Online Ahead of Launch at MWC 2014

Earlier in the week, HTC announced that the company will hold an event on 25 March (probably to launch the HTC One successor), leading many to believe that the Taiwanese smartphone maker would skip the upcoming MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2014. Now the firm has confirmed that it will unveil a phablet to make their presence felt at the Barcelona event .

HTC has given a sneak peek at the company's upcoming phone to be unveiled at the MWC 2014, by posting a couple of images of a mid-range phablet dubbed as Desire 8 on the company's official Chinese social website, 'Sina Weibo' with a tag- "#8 new desire lines # true, beautiful! Members, MWC see!"

The first picture shows the phone's three color variants- white, dark blue and red placed side-by-side. On the other hand, the second image is a super-imposed photo showing the front and rear of the white HTC Desire 8 model. It shows that the main camera with LED flash is placed at the top left corner, whereas on the front side we see the speaker grills (top and bottom) and a front camera at the top left corner. The company has refrained from disclosing any further details regarding internal hardware probably to keep a little excitement alive among the fans till the official unveiling on Monday (24 February), but popular twitter spy, @evleaks seems to have spoilt HTC's plans as he revealed the key specifications of the Desire 8 (aka A5).

According to the prolific tipster, the phablet will sport a 5.5-inch HD (720p) display and house a 1.6GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon (MSM8928) quad-core CPU, 1.5GB RAM, 8GB inbuilt storage (expandable), 13.0-megapixel camera, 5.0-megapixel camera and BoomSound audio. He also claimed the Desire 8 would run on the new HTC custom v6.0 UI (likely to come with KitKat OS) and will be available in five colors- Black/white/red/yellow/purple.
